Update 0.98: 100% Multiplayer Sync & The Rise of Persia!

Demo update delivered

Update 0.98 was published October 11 for the Free to Play version. It introduced the Persian rotation and seven maps, Japanese and Czech support, and fixes for synchronization, wall behavior and tutorial progression. The publisher’s synchronization claim is a release-note claim, not a guarantee of flawless multiplayer.

The separate Steam Free to Play demo has two rotating civilizations, selected maps and one mission from each campaign. It is distinct from the paid Ancient Wars: Sparta HD and from Ancient Wars: Sparta Definitive Edition. The full map editor is explicitly included in this free edition.

The free edition explicitly includes the full map editor for custom scenarios. The publisher’s July update adds editor parameters for walls, towers and heroes. The store also advertises Workshop publishing and downloads, and the HD parent has a Workshop hub; an exact free-client subscription, activation and removal procedure was not established.
