Plan your first dungeon
Get in, learn the fight, get out
Dark and Darker puts monsters and other players in the same dungeon. Your equipment is at risk when you enter, so make your first goal a successful escape rather than a full inventory.
Make room to fight
Weapons have different attack patterns, and spellcasting needs time and suitable equipment. Give yourself space to act. Treat a narrow doorway or an unfamiliar room as a reason to slow down, not a promise of safety.
Leave time to leave
Learn the current map's escape routes as you explore. Recheck the route with your party before taking another fight. Getting treasure out is the payoff; carrying more is useful only if you survive.

Early Access Hotfix #130
IRONMACE's Hotfix #130 announces Arena Season #4 for October 30, with solo Individual Arena and Party Arena for premade teams of three. Self-found or self-crafted Arena items are now retained after a loss across characters on the same account, with clearer eligibility tooltips. The hotfix fixes reconnect-related equipped-gear loss, trade stalls and Banshee orb deaths, reduces boss target switching and clarifies Cave Troll attack wind-ups. It also strengthens team-killer matchmaking penalties, reduces Rogue Dual Wield bonus scaling and Sorcerer Lightning Bolt scaling from 1.0 to 0.5, and adjusts Bard abilities.

Early Access Hotfix #129
IRONMACE's Early Access Hotfix #129 adjusts weapon damage across rarities around target combat times and hit counts. It adds the Solaris Cuirass artifact, improves stash sorting and dungeon connections, and fixes server crashes and revival-related damage and visibility bugs. Further class-ability and random-modifier balance work remains planned.

The maintainer documents Windows graphics configuration under the game’s saved config directory, not a general mod loader.
Keep an untouched setup and original configuration. Use the unmodified game until the stated compatibility or policy gap is resolved.
