Microsoft Learn / Minecraft Creator documentation
Bedrock Add-Ons use resource and behavior packs. Microsoft documents importing .mcpack/.mcworld files and activating packs in a world’s Resource packs or Behavior packs settings. Windows Preview has its own development folders, where creators can test pack contents without replacing the stable game’s content.
Built-in Bedrock pack system; no Java Forge or Fabric loader
Requirements
- A pack compatible with the selected Preview version and any dependencies listed by its author
- Only enable experimental APIs or toggles required by the pack; options differ between builds
Documented locations
%appdata%\Minecraft Bedrock Preview\users\shared\games\com.mojang\development_behavior_packs%appdata%\Minecraft Bedrock Preview\users\shared\games\com.mojang\development_resource_packs
Use the documented location for the applicable edition.
Keep an untouched copy of the world before importing or enabling packs, and confirm that Windows opens content in Preview rather than the stable game. Test one compatible pack at a time in a copied world. Bedrock’s world editor can remove active packs; use the untouched copy if content changes need to be undone.
- Preview worlds and pack APIs can break or change with later builds.
- Experimental worlds cannot be converted back to a non-experimental state merely by disabling a toggle.
- Removing a pack can remove its mobs or replace blocks; disabling a pack is not full save rollback.
- General Bedrock activation screens are documented; Preview labels may vary. Exact pack compatibility with 26.70.20 must be checked separately.
This is an informational guide. Automatic mod-folder preparation and package installation are not enabled for this game in Heimdall Link.
