Start with the right package.
Bannerlord uses modules and an official modding toolchain. Manual modules contain SubModule.xml under their own folder in Modules; Workshop subscriptions remain managed by Steam. Dependencies, game versions and load order matter.
- Choose a module made for your exact Bannerlord version and game mode.
- Use Steam Workshop or follow the author’s manual Modules installation instructions.
- Enable the module in the launcher, respecting dependencies and load order. Back up campaigns before adding or removing overhaul mods.
Use the game or author’s installation flow. Automated installation in Heimdall is not enabled for this route.
Keep your setup dependable.
Use the game’s launcher to check for updates and verify files if it fails to start. Keep demo and playtest installations separate from the full game.
Use the platform launcher to start the game. Check the publisher’s current notices after a game update.
